This is an excerpt from the novel “The Great Migrations” by Jean Giono. In this passage, the main character, a French artist is asked to make a mural of all of the different religious beliefs in the world. Giono was interested in what it would be like for someone to do this. He wanted to ask how people would react to having their religion painted on a wall next to that of another religion.

The answer, as the artist says is that they would not be offended by it at all. It would simply be another religion, one that they had never heard of before. This shows us that people are able to tolerate others no matter what religion they follow.

If you are not offended by the person’s beliefs, then they are compatible with yours.
